Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Educational Grant Program

The REACH Educational Grant Program® helps employees at participating KFC® U.S. restaurants pursue their dreams of going to college. Employees of any age, any position, pursuing any degree can receive money to help them attend the accredited four-year or two-year college of their choice. The money can also be used at trade/vocational schools and for graduate study.

Amount: For managers: $3000, previous Grant recipients: $2500 and first time winners $2000

Requirements: ALL restaurant employees at participating restaurants! Any RGM, AUM, Shift Supervisor or Team Member can apply.

American Association of Candy Technologists (ACCT) John Kitt Memorial Scholarship

AACT is a premier professional group of individual technologists, operations personnel, educators, students, business staff and others dedicated to the advancement of the confectionery industry. This scholarship is for students looking to enter into the confectionery industry.

Requirements:

  • College sophomore, Junior or Senior status (in 2018-2019).
  • Have a demonstrated interest in confectionery technology.
  • Attend an accredited, four-year college or university within North America.
  • Be majoring in a food science, chemical science, biological science, or related area.
  • Achieved a 3.0 (out of 4.0) GPA (or equivalent on another scale).
  • Your demonstrated interest in confectionery technology can include many activities including but not limited to research projects, work experience, and formal study.

Taco Bell Live Mas Scholarship

This scholarship is for the innovators, creators and dreamers who want to share his/her passion and receive support to pursue this passion through a higher educational outlet. The scholarship requires applicants to submit a video (2 minutes or less in length) that tells us the story of their life’s passion. It could be a short film, animation or just a simple testimonial.

Requirements:

  • Resident of the United States
  • Between 16-24 years old
  • On track to apply for or currently enrolled in an accredited post-high school/post-secondary educational programs (including accredited two-and four-year colleges, universities, vocational-technical and trade schools).

Al Schuman/Ecolab Entrepreneurial Scholarship

This scholarship is for any student pursuing an education in a restaurant, food-service, or hospitality related major who has an entrepreneurial spirit, a minimum 3.0 GPA and attending one of the following schools: California State Polytechnic University-Pomona Cornell University, Culinary Institute of America, DePaul University, Johnson & Wales University, Kendall College, Lynn University, Michigan State University, New York University, Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, University of Denver, University of Houston, University of Nevada-Las Vegas, University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

Requirements: 
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be attending one of the above listed schools

ACS-Hach Land Grant Undergraduate Scholarship

The ACS-Hach Land Grant Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate chemistry majors who attend one of our 72 partner institutions and express an interest in teaching high school chemistry. Students are selected on the bases of chemistry aptitude, interest, and need. The selection process is administered by partner universities.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled as a full-time student at one of our partner institutions
  • Major in chemistry and complete educational program
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  • Express the intention to teach high school chemistry after graduation

Amount: $10,000 per academic year for up to six years

A.J. Grisanti Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is for any student pursuing an education in a restaurant, foodservice, or hospitality related major. First preference given to students attending a school in Kentucky, followed by any culinary arts students at Johnson & Wales University or the Culinary Institute of America, followed by Hotel and Restaurant Administration majors at Indiana University- Purdue and Bloomington, Indianapolis Vocational Technical College, University of Denver, Wake Technical College, Rochester Institute of Technology, Southeast Community College, Kendall College or College of DuPage.

Requirements:

  • First preference given to students attending a school in Kentucky, followed by any culinary arts students at Johnson & Wales University or the Culinary Institute of America, followed by Hotel and Restaurant Administration majors at Indiana University- Purdue and Bloomington, Indianapolis Vocational Technical College, University of Denver, Wake Technical College, Rochester Institute of Technology, Southeast Community College, Kendall College or College of DuPage.

American Association of Cereal Chemists (AACC): Graduate Fellowship Program

The purpose of the fellowship program is to encourage graduate research in grain-based food science and technology. Research in such disciplines as genetics, horticulture, nutrition, microbiology, biochemistry, engineering, or chemistry is not eligible unless it is directly related to the student’s primary research program dealing with a grain-based food science and technology related areas.

Requirement:

  • Applicants must be a current AACCI Student Member.
  • The candidate must be enrolled in graduate studies by the time the fellowship becomes effective, or be a current graduate student pursuing a course of study leading to an MS or a Ph.D. degree.
  • The educational institution in which the recipient is enrolled must be conducting fundamental investigations for the advancement of cereal science and technology, including oilseeds.
  • A fellowship recipient becomes ineligible for further payments when all requirements for the degree for which the fellowship was awarded have been completed, or if, during the tenure of the fellowship, the student discontinues or substantially changes the research program proposed in the fellowship application. It is the separate responsibility of both the student and the appropriate department head to notify the AACCI Foundation within thirty (30) days of any such change.

Kraft Academic Scholarship/ Tate & Lyle Travel Scholarship

The purposes of the undergraduate scholarship program are to encourage scholastically outstanding advanced undergraduate students in academic preparation for a career in grain-based food science and technology, and to attract and encourage outstanding students to enter the field of grain-based food science and technology. The scholarships are also designed to serve as a recruitment tool for colleges and universities, but are not open to applicants still in their first or second year of college.

Requirements:

  1. Applicants must be a current AACCI Student Member.
  2. Only advanced undergraduate applicants (those entering their senior year) will be considered. Applicants must have a grade point average of not less than 3.0 (4-point scale), both cumulatively in all courses and in all science and mathematics courses then completed. The applicant must have at least one term remaining at the time the scholarship is to be awarded.
  3. The recipient must enroll in an academic schedule that meets the minimum requirements for full-time students of the college/university being attended, and must be pursuing an approved course of study leading to a degree from that institution.
  4. The educational institution at which the applicant is enrolled must be conducting fundamental investigations for the advancement of grain-based food science and technology or related areas, including oilseeds.

Amount: Total Award: $1000

ASEV Traditional Scholarship

The American Society for Enology and Viticulture annually awards numerous scholarships to students pursuing a degree in enology, viticulture, or a curriculum emphasizing a science basic to the wine and grape industry. The awards are not in predetermined amounts and may vary from year to year. All scholarship recommendations made by the Scholarship Committee are subject to final approval by the Board of Directors.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be current ASEV Student Members prior to applying for a scholarship
  • Undergraduate and graduate students must be enrolled in or accepted into a full-time accredited four year college or university in a degree program such as for a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D.
  • The applicant must reside in North America (Canada, Mexico, or USA) during the applicable academic year. Undergraduate applicants should have a minimum of junior status for the upcoming academic year (45 semester units/60 quarter units). Applicant is required to submit their acceptance letter from the academic institution.
  • Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.6. Current quarter or semester pending grades are not applicable.
  • Applicants must be accepted and/or enrolled in a major, or in a graduate group, emphasizing enology or viticulture, or in a curriculum emphasizing a science basic to the wine and grape industry

ASEV Presidents Award for Scholarship in Enology and Viticulture

The American Society for Enology and Viticulture annually awards numerous scholarships to students pursuing a degree in enology, viticulture, or a curriculum emphasizing a science basic to the wine and grape industry. The awards are not in predetermined amounts and may vary from year to year. This special scholarship will be awarded to two students that exceed the expectations of our traditional scholarship program.

Canadian International Farm Show Youth in Agriculture Bursaries

CABEF awards scholarships annually to students enrolling in an agricultural university or college. These scholarships are funded through generous donations from agri-business and people involved in the agricultural industry.

Grade 12 students from across Canada are invited to apply for one of six scholarships awarded annually. One scholarship will be awarded in the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Québec, with one additional scholarship to be awarded in the rest of or all of Canada.

Applicants will be assessed on a combination of their leadership attributes, academic standing, and essay response to the question “What do you consider to be the three main opportunities for the Canadian agriculture industry and which one inspires you the most?”

Requirements:

  • Students who are entering their first year of an accredited college or university agriculture program either through transfer or direct entry are eligible to apply.
  • Students must be at least 16 years of age and a Canadian citizen to apply.
  • Entries must be submitted on the form provided here. A word-processed version of the form may be created and used.
  • Proof of enrollment to be submitted to CABEF by September 30, 2019 with scholarship payment paid to recipient within 30 days.

Ottawa Valley Seed Growers Association

The Ottawa Valley Seed Growers Association offers scholarships to recognize interest, knowledge and achievement in the Eastern Ontario agricultural community.

The scholarships are available to youth of Eastern Ontario enrolled in at least the second year of studies at any post-secondary College or University, and planning to pursue a career in agriculture. Students are asked questions about their interest in the agricultural community.

Requirements:

  • Youth of Eastern Ontario enrolled in at least the second year of studies at any post-secondary College or University, and planning to pursue a career in agriculture

Ontario Dairy Youth Trust Fund Scholarship

The Dairy Youth Trust Fund is a registered charity with the goal of helping to develop the youth in the dairy industry to ensure Ontario’s strong future in agriculture. Today’s youth are the most important resource we have as an industry and they need to be recognized as such, fostered to develop the skills they need to maintain and strengthen the dairy industry into the future.

Requirements:

  • Must be a regular or junior member of any dairy breed association, or a child of a member.
  • The above stated membership must be currently in the province of Ontario.
  • Must have successfully completed at least the first year of a University/College program and be enrolled in the following year. Applicants may have finished their fourth year and be in an Agriculture Master Program.
  • Must have completed application signed by County Holstein Club President, Secretary, Youth Contact, or other Ontario Dairy Breed club officer.

Amount: $1000

Sobeys & Empire Scholarship Program,

Sobeys is a large grocery chain across Canada and is committed to investing in the future of their employees.

Requirements:

  • Employees are eligible if they currently work at any corporate location or are employed by a franchisee or affiliate, and meet the following criteria
  • Have worked without breaks in service for a minimum of six (6) months or 500 hours as of April 30th each year
  • Have obtained, or are in the process of obtaining, a high school diploma, or are registered as a full-time student at a Canadian college/university, with an academic achievement of 70% or above in their last semester.

Amount: $1500

Manufactured Food Training Grant Program

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) are proud to administer the Manufactured Food Training Grant Program. The program provides funds to support the training needs of manufactured food programs (both human and animal food) at the State, local, tribal and territorial levels.

Requirements:

  • State, local, tribal, or territorial regulatory agencies that regulate the safety of manufactured food (human and/or animal food)
  • One or more employees who must complete FSPCA for Human Food or FSPCA for Animal Food.

Chicagoland Food Science Foundation

As part of its ongoing commitment to providing membership benefits and student engagement, the Chicago Section IFT (CSIFT) has created the Chicagoland Food Science Foundation (CFSF). CFSF is a 501c3 Nonprofit organization to raise funds for and award scholarships to students intending to work in the food industry.

Requirements:

  1. Student MUST be a student member of IFT.
  2. Student must have a permanent address in the geographic region* generally applied to CIFST membership
    OR
  3. Student is enrolled at a College/University located in the geographic region* generally applied to CIFST membership
  4. Student is working towards a degree and career typical of those who are members of IFT
  5. Student is eligible to eventually work in CIFST region on a permanent basis
  6. Student should be entering their Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year this Fall as an undergrad. Graduate scholarships will also be awarded.

Amount: $5000 for full-time students and $2500 for part-time students
